About

Meet Melanie

I didn't start out planning to become a doula. But once I found this work, I knew I had found where I belonged.

I'm Melanie, the heart behind The Blooming Belly Doula Co. I'm a certified birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator serving families throughout Central Florida in both English and Español.

Birth can be beautiful, unpredictable, emotional, intense—and sometimes all of those things within the same hour. I've learned that families don't need someone promising them the "perfect" birth. They need someone who can walk into the room, meet them exactly where they are, and help them feel informed, supported, and a little less overwhelmed.

That's what I bring.

I'm there to explain the things that suddenly sound confusing, help you work through your options, support your partner, suggest a new position when labor gets intense, remind you to breathe when everything feels like a lot, and make sure
your voice stays part of the conversation.

And when baby arrives? I'm still here. Because becoming a parent doesn't suddenly get easier just because the birth is over.

The Melanie behind the doula bag

I'm a wife, a mom, a coffee lover, and someone who genuinely loves connecting with people. I'm warm, straightforward, and probably going to make you laugh at some point—even if we're in the middle of a very long labor.

My approach to birth is simple: this isn't my birth. It's yours. I'm not there to push a certain kind of birth, tell you what you "should" choose, or make decisions for you. My job is to make sure you understand your options, feel confident asking questions, and have steady support beside you as your birth unfolds.

Because whether your story includes an epidural, an unmedicated birth, an induction, a C-section, a VBAC, or a complete change of plans—it's still your birth story, and it deserves to be supported.

Why I became a doula

I found this work at a time when I was looking for purpose.

Becoming a doula wasn't something I had planned for years. It came into my life unexpectedly, but once it did, something just clicked.

I realized how powerful it is to be invited into a family's birth space—to be the steady person in the room when things feel uncertain, to help a mom find her voice when she's overwhelmed, to reassure a partner who isn't sure what to do, and to simply stay present when plans change.

What started as an interest in birth quickly became something much bigger for me. I realized this wasn't just work I enjoyed. It was work I felt called to do.

Every family I support reminds me why I chose this path. No two births look the same, and that's exactly what I love about it. I get to meet families where they are, learn what matters to them, and help them walk into birth feeling more prepared and less alone.

The Blooming Belly was built from that purpose: to create a space where families feel educated, cared for, heard, and supported as their own birth story unfolds.
